Transforming Animal Care​

For over 50 years, the Zoological Society of New Jersey has been supporting Essex County Turtle Back Zoo's growth and success. Every donation and volunteer hour directly supports wildlife conservation, animal care, and educational programs. In the past five years, nearly $10 million from our members has helped the Zoo and its conservation efforts thrive.

But we do more than raise funds. Our team of experts and volunteers work side by side with the Zoo, providing strategic and hands-on support to meet the Zoo's evolving needs.

This year, we're launching the Barry H. Ostrowsky Animal Wellness Center. With your help, we'll elevate animal care with cutting-edge equipment and expanded facilities, attracting top scientists and veterinarians. Guests will even have the rare opportunity to watch treatments in action---an experience offered at only a few zoos in the country.

Protecting Wildlife: Your Impact on Global and Local Conservation​

From funding anti-poaching drones in Africa to installing Nest Cams for ospreys and eagles in New Jersey, the Zoological Society of New Jersey's Turtle Back Biodiversity Fund establishes partnerships with gloval organizations to protect wildlife. Notable alliances include:

Making a Difference Locally​

In 2019, we launched "Zoo Team Go," a volunteer program dedicated to protecting local waterways, forests, and trails. With over 3,000 volunteers, we've removed over 5,500 pounds of trash and invasive species, making a tangible difference in our own backyard.
