Zoo Team Go

Zoo Team Go volunteers work within the Turtle Back Zoo Education Department and the Zoological Society of New Jersey to assist with conservation efforts, group projects, and special events across New Jersey.

Join Essex County Turtle Back Zoo to create a pollinator garden! This local initiative will help sustain habitats for local wildlife, including birds, butterflies, bees, and more. To create our pollinator garden, you and your friends and family can help from start to finish, or pick a date when you want to participate.  Activities are planned for each day to help the environment and pass along how you can garden for wildlife anywhere you go.

Drinking water, gloves, garbage bags, and tools will be provided at this volunteer outing. We’ll be digging, weeding, planting, and more so bring clothes you don’t mind getting messy. Feel free to bring a hat, long pants, sunscreen, bug spray, reusable water bottle, and if you prefer, your own gloves.

Please note that zoo admission costs extra and can be purchased at Turtle Back Zoo’s main entrance. This event is rain-or-shine, except in the event of unsafe inclement weather or conditions, we will contact you if we need to cancel.

Volunteers will meet at the Waterfront at South Mountain Reservation Complex across from Turtle Back Zoo’s main entrance at 560 Northfield Avenue, West Orange NJ 07052.  Look for the large Zoo Team Go banner to find us.

Registration is limited to 30 people per day. Please join the waitlist if registration is full.
